SERVICES AND PROGRAMS

If you're a resident of East Central Minnesota and currently without housing, APFY has programs that can help you. Please get in touch with us, and we'll work with you to find suitable options that can improve your situation. Even if we don't have a direct solution for you, we'll do our best to connect you with other programs that can provide assistance.

Shelter

APFY has programs that can help. If you live in East Central Minnesota and do not have a safe place to live. Call us, if we do not have options that can help directly we will do our best to connects you with a program that fits your situation.

Navigation

We have staff that can help to navigate the barriers that come with homelessness. Our resource navigators are looking for housing across the state every day. They are the go-to people when you have a housing question.

Outreach

APFY is coming to areas of East Central Minnesota that traditionally do not have access to the resources we offer. Weather homeless or at risk of homelessness. We want to provide you with navigation to get your needs met, and reduce barriers that you face.

About our team

Mathew Viney,

Executive Director

Hi there! My name is Mathew Viney, and I am thrilled to share my story with you. As the Executive Director at A Place For You, I am passionate about serving the homeless community in East Central Minnesota. It's a cause that's close to my heart, as I grew up in this area and experienced extreme poverty and homelessness during my teenage years.

Despite the challenges I faced, I never gave up on my dreams. I am a proud father of five children, and watching them grow up, play sports, and participate in activities brings me so much joy. I also find solace in nature and enjoy spending time being creative.

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Concordia St. Paul, which has given me a unique perspective on how to approach the challenges facing our community. Through my involvement on the board of the Central Minnesota Continuum of Care, I am able to work with others to address homelessness in this region.

One of my greatest accomplishments has been my success in grant writing, which has allowed A Place For You to expand its services and reach even more individuals in need. But more than anything, my goal is to build relationships. I believe that we can make a positive impact in the lives of those around us by coming together and supporting one another. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little better.

William Young,

Mental Health Practitioner

William has led an adventurous life. Growing up in North Branch and attending the local public school, he went on to study Political Science and Religion at Hamline University in Saint Paul. After graduation, he decided to join the Peace Corps to teach English to elementary children in Mongolia. William's love for adventure led him to learn Mongolian, which proved to be a great asset during his stay in Mongolia.

Upon his return to the US, William entered the world of political campaigning, but found that it wasn't for him. Instead of giving up, he decided to embark on a new adventure. He moved out of his Minneapolis apartment, bought an old camper van, and hit the road. He now resides in Mora, where he enjoys snowmobiling, camping, or spending time with his two cats, Ron and Brian.

William's interest in housing issues began during his senior year of college, where he interned for a housing non-profit. In 2021, he joined A Place For You as a program support specialist, where he enjoyed interacting with and helping the shelter residents in any way possible. Today, as a Mental Health Practitioner, William continues to enjoy this aspect of his job. The unique challenges faced by many in the un-housed population have forced him to think creatively to come up with solutions. William finds inspiration in helping people overcome their obstacles and achieve their goals.
